August 24, 2008- With over 10 major networks throughout the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, slated to broadcast episodes, THEDRIVEtv is celebrating the timely successful launch of its first season. It's story is one of unexpected proportions, beginning when executives from the Australian Christian Network posed a challenge to create a positive alternative program for teens that would be culturally relevant and fit into the vein of reality television. THEDRIVEtv set out to meet a need. One year later, the debut reality series has caught the attention of networks worldwide. With a continually swelling fan base, THEDRIVEtv is currently airing in over 170 countries, with a potential viewership surpassing one billion.
"I don't think any of us were ready for what this show would not only mean to us, but also to youth around the world," said host and producer Chris Molitor. "To be able to see how well it has been received has been absolutely amazing. We're so blessed to have the opportunity to connect with these people in a real and authentic way through THEDRIVEtv."
"Thursday nights have picked up speed! THEDRIVEtv adds a burst of energy and fun to our lineup for both the young and the young at heart. Chris, Kyle, Steve and Aaron are media missionaries who bring the message of Christ to young viewers in a language they understand. In a time when immorality and irreverence dominate the airwaves, THEDRIVEtv takes a higher road. It's what 'reality TV' should be - relevant, reflective, real," said Troy Miller, COO of the NRB Network.
THEDRIVEtv details the travels of four young men who hit the road and covered over 8,000 miles as they took on the west coast. Each episode involves entertainment and adventure, woven with fundamental issues that today's generation encounters daily including social justice, community, purpose, emotions and more. In addition, each episode showcases the exceeding talents of some of the most lauded independent bands and artists across the nation.
Coming off the heels of a successful launch, the cast and crew also completed a mini-tour of summer music festivals to connect with fans and interview artists including Brandon Heath, Kutless, Matthew West, Newsboys, Ayiesha Woods, and Pillar which will be offered as a web exclusive episode coming soon. They are currently booking speaking engagements to connect with youth and teens. A dynamic facilitator's guide will be available this fall to further equip youth group leaders as they present episodes to their teens.
